WHO ARE THE STAFF IN THE LOWCOUNTRY?
Shannon Justice Brown
I’m Shannon Brown, affectionately known as SJ to our team and students. I’ve been on staff with Cru since 2008. Growing up in Sumter, SC I began a relationship with Jesus at a young age and knew college was going to challenge my faith. I quickly got involved in Cru my freshmen year at Winthrop University where I was discipled by fellow teammate Ansley Hammond. It was through Cru that I learned how to walk with the Lord as I navigated being a light for Christ in my sorority and on campus. Now, I have the privilege of working with sorority women at the College of Charleston & Charleston Southern helping them do the same! I have also had the new opportunity of helping out with reaching women at the Citadel with the gospel! shannon.brown@cru.org |

Ryan Forgay
I am Ryan Forgay & I have been a part of Cru since January 2019 - when my wife & I joined the Lowcountry team! My spiritual journey began at First Baptist Church of Hapeville near Atlanta. As an eight year old boy, I had a loving Sunday school teacher who on Easter Sunday taught me that Jesus Christ died to forgive us of our sins. I remember that it was at that time that I first trusted in Christ as my Savior and Lord. Later, I became a minister and served as a youth pastor for fifteen years. My amazing wife, Amy, and I have been married for sixteen years and have two precious girls Ellie (12) and Emma (10) and a little boy, Miles (2.5)! I am super excited & honored to be serving at the Citadel and Charleston Southern University! ryan.forgay@cru.org |
Ansley Hammond
I’m Ansley & I’ve lived in the Charleston area since I was 9. I went to the College of Charleston & ended up leading Cru at the College of Charleston my senior year with then friend and fellow student leader, Brandon, now my hubby! Brandon and I have been on staff for 19 years now. I love getting to coach student leaders at Charleston Southern University and train new staff on our team. ansley.hammond@cru.org |

Amy Forgay
I'm Amy Forgay & I've served with Cru since 2017. I first heard about Cru my freshman year at Converse College when a friend invited me to attend a weekly meeting. My Cru staff and peers ended up playing a huge role in my spiritual development through my four years of school. Although I graduated never dreaming that I would get to serve with Cru in the future, ten years after graduating, my husband & I joined staff! This past year I had the privilege of working with female cadets at the Citadel, and I've transitioned to mentoring girls at Charleston Southern. My husband, Ryan & I have two daughters (ages 12 & 10) and a little boy (2.5). In my free time, you can find me playing board games with friends or enjoying a good conversation over a delicious meal.

Torrance Evans
I'm Torrance Evans and I graduated from Clemson University in 2017, where I got involved with Cru as a senior after attending a student led Bible study with my random roommates. Since then, I volunteered with Cru at Coastal Carolina University for 3 years while I worked as an electrical engineer for a local power company. I joined staff in 2020 and got married to Jamie in the same summer! I've loved having the opportunity to serve the students along with Jamie not only at CCU, but also at the College of Charleston and the Citadel. In my free time, I love playing almost every sport there is and using my problem solving skills! torrance.evans@cru.org |
Jamie Evans
I'm Jamie Evans and I graduated in 2019 from Coastal Carolina & found Cru my junior year there. I grew up learning about Jesus at a young age, but it was my junior year through Cru that I understood I could have a personal relationship with Jesus. I had previously heard of Cru, so I quickly found myself at a weekly meeting & met a sweet girl that met me for coffee later that week. She invited me to a Cru Winter Conference & it was that weekend that I realized that I didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus & I wasn’t honoring Him with the double life I was living. I’m thankful for how God used Cru to intercept my life & help me to know Jesus personally. After graduation, I joined staff & I’ve been serving students at the College of Charleston, the Citadel and Coastal Carolina University. jamie.evans@cru.org |
Abby Barnett
I'm Abigail Barnett, most people know me as Abby!
